Sonoma County
Spicerack Vineyards
Cool climate and high rainfall are features shared by vineyards within the Sonoma County and they contribute to slow grape maturation, with optimum ripeness coinciding with the very end of the growing season.
These challenging conditions pose unique challenges to Syrah, but when farmed correctly and yields kept low, Syrah can ripen slowly into a beautiful wine, with exotic aromas of freshly crushed white pepper.
Unlike most New World Syrah's, Spicerack Syrah eschews excessive new oak as it is matured in mostly “seasoned” (neutral) French oak barrels and therefore displays a varietal purity seldom found in California.
